One Piece A-Edition Alpha 0.1 Release

ONE PIECE A-EDITION : ALPHA 0.1 RELEASED!

The first One Piece A-Edition Build is here!

Features:

Luffy
Sanji
A training dummy
A buggy marine grunt (will be updated soon).

How to install:
When you first install the game, you will find in the folder the SFX created 2 exes.
1-A windowed version; resolution 800x600
2-A full screen version. Will expand to perfectly fit your screen.
In the future, changing the resolution of your screen will be accessible via the options menu. The A-Engine used to create this game is still not fully ready, that's why.

How to play:
-Control your character with the arrow keys, and do actions with the four action keys; Attack, Defend, Jump and Special.

Once you start the game, you might find that the controls are not what you prefer. Fear not. You can change controls in the "Options" in the main menu of the game. To go there the first time, use the arrow keys to move around and "C" to click/proceed.

For those who would like to play the game with a joystick controller of some sort, unfortunately, I couldn't get gamepads support ready in time. However, after some research, we came across a very handy program that translates keyboard inputs into joystick clicks. I've tested it, and it work perfectly for the game. Oh yeah, feedback would really be appreciated.
Few tips:
-F4 quits the match and take you to the selection screen.
-F1 Shows a movelist for Luffy and Sanji.
-ESC exits.
-Defend against a computer controlled Dummy and it will hop/come to you.
-The dummy can fly. I will let you discover the rest by yourselves Razz

work good for me (sanji,marin and luffy, like you said)
and It's normal that luffy doesn't say "gomu gomu no" or the name of the attack ? (exept for the gatling gun, he said it)

PS:please evryone, read the tutorial of A-MAN before asking question !! :p

It says that S is flail, but for me it uses gattling Razz

Also f1 is a pain in the donkey to use, it keeps blinking, but maybe i read the readme wrong xD

Im in 8.1 and it work for me, if you"re using traf or something not ready yet for this version of the game, it's gonna crash for sure,

1 bug (I think) can't see the energy (for sanji it's a little bit boring 'cause when I use the sky walk it use energy but I can't see how many and how many I have, but I know it's not very important now cause there is any "real" oppenent)

Thoughts and maybe bugs:
-I am using notebook and the game is smoooth
-I thought the camera movement was bad when you guys talk about it but I like it really
-Harden haki are kinda hard to do especially the last combo of Luffy, or you don't do it somehow?
-Law is not playable right? Since when I choose him, the game just crash
-Collier strike (The one with diable jamble from Sanji) it just have white frame. You guys don't have the effect?
-Loading screen: background is black. but the "Loading" is white box even the number.
-For me, Sanji dash in mid-air is hard to execute :p
-Oh the SP doesn't show in both Sanji and Luffy.
-I have the same problem as wdkace
-Sometimes it crashed in loading screen after the Team A logo

This is what I found when I'm using this two character and dummy.

Finally!!! Good Alpha yeah! I tested the Alpha and i have alittle Buglist that i found:

The game in general was Ok in my notebook, whitout any CTD in Loading Screens and wtouth droping the FPS!.

I am using a netbook and the game is smooth too. The Loading white box appears in my netbook too, but didn't appear in my other pc. So I think that the white box appear just in pc's with very low specs.
I don't know how to use Grizzly Magnum and Observation Haki. I saw the movelist, but Grizzly magnum and Observation Haki didn't work for me.
I love to use sky walk, it's the coolest move.

I managed to do the grizzly magnum, but no luck with the observation haki :c
Every time i go against marine grunts the game crashes saying "Frame 0 does not exist"
The game is running very smoothly :v
Some sprites are missings/looking strange
But anyway, great work, it's awesome for the 1st alpha of the game, keep the good work :3

For Grizzly Magnum you need to hold the directional buttons then press the specific button (attack, defend, etc). That's how I got it to work for me.

Grizzly magnum is : Press and hold FORWARD and DOWN and then press SPECIAL.

Also a kind request to everyone, ONE of you guys take an initiative and make a thread with ALL the known bugs (possibly with a screenshot for better description).
It will really help Smile

Also my favorite moves to do would be Grill Shot : (Run + S) and Giant Pistol : (forward + special).. Glad most of you are enjoying it!

I will reply to the most concerning issues I've read, and the rest, I hope you guys would start a thread arranging the problems you've faced, and I will reply to each one by one then.

SO,
1- Some "icons" appear white? Some sprites appear wrong/white? I would really appreciate it if you guys would elaborate on what exactly appears white. I couldn't test unfortunately, since all the computers I and the rest of the team have available do not show any white sprites at all (all support power of 2 textures).

2-Game crashes when I do this: For those having such a problem, I would (again) appreciate it if you would use the 800x600 version, and PRNTSCREEN the moment the game crashes. Sometimes, the terminal/console/black-window can print out useful cues. Also, try to elaborate on what you did for the crash to happen as much as possible. This really does help me in figuring out the cause of the problems fast.

3-The SP bar is missing: The SP bar isn't really a bar. It's the heart. It pumps faster and faster as you do SP costing moves. How many of you guys think it's not clear?

@thunder: I am very interested in your case. Can you tell me your computer specs?

its that slow on my pc... i know my pc sucks but it hurt :c , i was waiting to play it for so long... but it looks great, keep it up and never stop (:

My netbook is very slow too, but the game runs very smooth on it, even more than lf2 games that are quite slow on my netbook

Happy new years everyone. Who else has the flu? Sad

The game is great. The only problems I've had were frame rate drops with a lot of characters on-screen, only after 10-15mins of being idle though. Can Luffy back flip? I saw cpu sanji do it, but maybe it's due to quick jump not working a 100% after pressing jump too fast? There also seems to be moves that aren't listed?
