i have the answer.
ok so, you have 20 of each, which means 40 pills, which means 20 black pills and 20 white pills (but you cant tell the difference), and you need to take 2 of each.
you cut each pill into 10 pieces, and keep 1 piece of the ten (you throw away all the other pieces), and then combine all the pieces and take them. each pill contains 5 0.1 of a black pill and 5 0.1 of a white pill, and so each pill is half white and half black, and you take 4 of them, meaning 4x0.5 white and 4x0.5 black, which means 2 black and 2 white.

I have a question...1st we dont know which pills are which.. so when you cut them to 1/10th each and then join..its perfectly possible that you may have accidently joined both black (or white,assumed by you) together.. how do you make sure that the new piece contains exactly half of both?

Rhino, its possible that you will have one pill which is 0.8 white and 0.2 black, but in that case the other pill will be 0.2 white and 0.8 black, meaning its still correct

Even simpler, one can just grind all the pills together, mix them, and then take from the mixed powder the weight of 4 pill and have them. Now, for the smart asses who posted chemistry after I gave the hint (I gotta admit they were some good tries though ), how does that relate to thermodynamics (?).
Well, thermodynamics mainly deals with how the entropy of a system gets bigger and bigger, never decreasing, as time passes. Now grinding the pills would increase their entropy; hence, they will tend to an equilibrium state where the pills particles are distributed equally. That is, you can guarantee that there will be no less than 99.99% equal distribution of the pills content. You can then just take from the powder the mass of the 4 pills  and you're ready to go XD.

I don't find riq's idea appealing.. Since we can't know which pieces we are joining with other. Suppose you cut one tablet into 10 pieces (suppose its tablet A) then how are you going to cut the next tablet? How will you know that you are cutting tablet B if they are identical?

On the other hand, A-MAN's idea seems appealing but quite funny and unexpected..

A friend asked me a riddle a few months ago.
When i saw this i was like "Hey its the same riddle, i can solve it easily" so i went and wrote "Give me ten minutes to solve it".

and it wasnt the same riddle ._.
i got a bit confused but it was the same solution in a bigger way.
The riddle he gave me was "A blind man was given four pills by a doctor, 2 white and 2 black, he must take 1 black pill and 1 white pill the first day and 1 white pill and 1 black pill the second day. How can he know what to take?" the answer was
